My favorite Unity assets

Unity

Updated: 27 March 2015.

The assets I use (and love)

(in strict alphabetical order)

  • 2D Toolkit. Even after Unity 4.3 introduced its own 2D engine, 2D Toolkit managed to integrate with it and is still the best 2D solution with the most efficient sprite management, even if since Unity 4.6 I don’t use it for UIs anymore, but only for 2D games.
  • Advanced FPS Counter. Another plugin from Dmitriy Yukhanov, this one actually sports a reductive name, since it offers way more info than just FPS.
  • Anti-Cheat Toolkit. Made by one of the best coders I know, Dmitriy Yukhanov, this toolkit will make hacking your game a lot more difficult, is incredibly easy to implement, and is constantly improved.
  • Color Palette. As a designer, I love this new asset immensely. Not only it allows you to store color palettes in Unity, but you can also assign them to objects and change them on the fly, both in the Editor and at runtime.
  • Combu. A community and leaderboard system that installs on your server. I implemented it in Goscurry when the previous online platform I was using failed, and I’m liking it a lot.
  • DOTween. HOTween v2. A very efficient tween engine with tons of options (full disclosure: I did this, but that doesn’t mean I can’t love it).
  • Easy Save 2. Sure you could roll your own PlayerPrefs wrapper, but Easy Save already implements encryption and many useful methods, so why waste your time?
  • Editor Console Pro. Replaces Unity’s Console panel with something that, compared to it, comes straight out of the future. Among many great options, it also shows you previews of your stack calls.
  • Maintainer. Another plugin from Dmitriy Yukhanov (what can I say, everything he does is awesome). Fundamental to keep your project clean and well maintained.
  • Master Audio. Even with Unity 5’s new AudioMixer, Master Audio is still the best audio manager/solution for Unity, with so many options that I can’t even start to summarize it.
  • Simple Waypoint System. Just upgraded to implement DOTween, it is a super advanced path editor with loads of options.

Assets I will surely love when complete

  • Spine. Not really an asset, but a great 2D animation system which integrates with Unity. Right now there’s a lot of missing features, but working with it is already lovely.

Assets I’ve still not used, but that I’m looking forward to

  • Advanced Builder. An incredibly useful tool if you’re building for multiple platforms. I’m not using it right now only because I created a similar thing for Goscurry. But from my next game it will be there.
  • Shader Forge. A node-based shader editor. I heard wonders about it (and you probably did too), and the developer is very dedicated. Seems a fantastic and extremely well done tool.

Thanks for listing Combu, too! Much appreciated! ^__^
From the list above, I want definitely to buy “Anti-Cheat Toolkit”, looks interesting and I know you’re liking it, so I can use it for some Multiplayer projects.

Thanks to you for making Combu. I love it, and it’s a plugin that takes care — and very well — of a very important element of games.
      That said, I can’t recommend Anti-Cheat Toolkit enough :)

I’ll be glad to have you onboard! Price will increase in few days, after Asset Store guys will review an update though, so I’d suggest to hurry, if you still wish to buy it and didn’t yet! =D
Combu looks great BTW, congrats on nice Asset Store contribution!
